The 2018 World Whiskies Awards are over and the winners have been crowned. This year’s World’s Best Bourbon, according to Whiskey Magazine, is 1792 Full Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey by Barton 1792 Distillery.
1792 Full Proof comes on strong with a 125 proof kick, and flavors that have been described as “big, bold, and robust, with notes of vanilla, caramel, and smoke,” and an “oily and heavy mouth feel.” Others have even called it “fruity” and “chewy.” It can usually be found for about $49.99.
Barton 1792 is part of Barton Brands, part of the Sazerac Company, which also owns Buffalo Trace Distillery and A. Smith Bowman Distillery, both of which have also taken awards from Whiskey Magazine in recent years.
1792 Full Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is particularly well-liked by judges around the world, having taken seven other awards of note in the last two years — including silver medals at the New York and San Francisco World Spirits competitions.
The runners up for 2018’s Whiskey Magazine “Best Bourbon” award included George T. Stagg Uncut, Unfiltered Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Eagle Rare 10-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, and Old Forester Birthday Bourbon.
