Whisky Magazine’s Visitor Attraction of the 2017 is Buffalo Trace Distillery

In February, Buffalo Trace Distillery was named the 2017 Icons of Whisky America Visitor Attraction of the Year by Whisky Magazine. This award was presented at the Whisky Magazine Awards America Presentation in New York.

Matt Higgins who is the manager of the Buffalo Trace Distillery Visitor’s Centre was also notably commended for Visitor Attraction Manager of the Year. Meredith Moody who is the marketing services director said that Buffalo Trace Distillery is seriously committed to providing their guests with outstanding visitor experience. He said that they work very hard to expand their capabilities of supporting the increasing number of people they welcome. He noted that they were honored and thrilled to be named the Visitor Attraction of 2017.

In line with its goal of accommodating more visitors, the Buffalo Trace Distillery has expanded its Visitor Centre by more than double. The Distillery is also expanding its tours continually. Over 170,000 guests visited the distillery in 2016 which was an increase of 17 percent from 2015. More fantastic is the fact that this is a 227 percent increase since 2010.

There are five distinct tours offered by the Distillery currently. All tours and tastings are complimentary to guests. In order to cater more for visitors and better preserve its long history, the distillery will be integrating the newly discovered intact O.F.C Distillery foundation and fermenters into a tour that will be announced soon.

Nominations from distributors, producers, retailers and importers determine the American Icons. Those in the industry then vote from the nominees before the editorial panel of Whisky Magazine reviews and present a shortlist. Winners are then selected from the shortlist.
